Vietnam-Singapore Partnership in Technical Education
The technical and vocational education system in Vietnam is being transformed to train skilled workers ready for its fast growing economy. The foundation is supporting the capability development training programme for four technical colleges in Ho Chi Minh City. Sixty master trainers from Phu Lam College, HCMC Technical Vocational College, Nguyen Huu Canh Professional High School and Nam Sai Gon Professional High School will focus on educational leadership, pedagogy and curriculum development. In its drive to upgrade its national technical education system, Vietnam’s Department of Education & Training has planned for these four colleges to be model colleges to help other technical colleges and reach out to 500 teaching staff and 16,000 tertiary students in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 3-year programme will be rolled out by trainers from Singapore Polytechnic’s Mechatronics and Information Technology departments, to complement Vietnam’s master plan for technical vocational education and training reform.
