Pressure injuries in patients are found to be associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Recent studies indicate that using specialised nutritional feeds containing zinc/arginine antioxidants could significantly improve the healing rate of pressure injuries.
Since many home nursing patients with pressure injuries do not receive any specialised nutritional care, a nutrition intervention package is developed to reach out to these group of patients. The INCA Trial could lead to improved wound healing rates, prevent new pressure injuries, reduce complications of poor wound healing and improve the overall quality of life of these patients.
