Some older residences, such as HDB flats built in the 1970s and 1980s, have multi-step entrances that are not wheelchair-friendly. As a result, elderly wheelchair users may find it challenging to move in and out of their homes, affecting their ability to age actively in the community. There is therefore a need for an affordable mobility device that assists wheelchair-reliant seniors in manoeuvring the multi-step entrances at their homes.

This pilot programme sought to conceptualise and test design concepts and working prototypes of a wheelchair accessibility aid for seniors.
