Dyslexia, a specific learning difficulty identified as a developmental difficulty of language learning and cognition primarily affects some 20,000 children in primary/secondary school.

SUTD is piloting a programme with a primary school and the Dyslexic Association of Singapore, to understand language learning processes of children with dyslexia, so as to develop an enabling tool to aid in effective reading assistance. Researchers are pilot testing a mobile application that helps children read independently using word recognition technology. The aim is to integrate them into assistive technologies in pedagogy and support teaching children with dyslexia in Singapore.
