Poor sleep quality is a known risk factor for cognitive decline in the elderly.
For this project, mindfulness-based training (MBT) and sleep education are explored as interventions to significantly improve sleep quality. MBT consists of a suite of techniques aimed at enhancing awareness and acceptance of one’s internal thoughts and feelings and external experiences in the present moment. The pilot will test the interventions on a group of elderly, with a view to implementing the programmes in sleep clinics in the future, to benefit the elderly, and improve their cognitive outcomes.
