KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH)
A rare disease is one which affects fewer than one in 2,000 patients. Most rare diseases are genetic, and often diagnosed at birth or during early childhood. Medicines are available for some which can improve lifespan and quality of life, allowing patients to live relatively normal lives. Nonetheless, these medicines tend to be very expensive.
To help Singaporean children diagnosed with rare diseases, Temasek Foundation is contributing to the Rare Disease Fund (RDF) administered by KKH. The Fund will provide long term financial support for medication for these children. For more information on RDF, visit: www.kkh.com.sg/giving/Documents/Rare-Disease-Fund/index.html.
Up to 18 Singaporean children will be supported by this programme.
